Serving Tech Businesses, Geeks, Makers, and Entrepreneurs since 1996

Softec has been the leading voice of the technology industry on the Central Coast since its formation in 1996. The story of Softec starts with a collection of innovative business leaders in 1994 seeking to connect the dots within the budding technology industry. They knew that the local businesses needed to connect to each other and build a bridge to educational and government resources. By 1996 Softec was registered as a non-profit, 501(c)(6). Even in those very early days the agenda of Softec was connecting resources, ideas, and people in the tech trade but over the years, much has evolved in how this is to be accomplished.

Softec is a volunteer organization with no paid staff. It is run by people from the tech community that believe in Softec’s mission. We are supported by amazing sponsors who invest in Softec so Softec can invest in the tech community so it can grow locally and compete globally.

Non-Profit Status 501(C)(6)

Softec is a non-profit 501(c)(6) since 1996  so your contributions may be tax-deductible. With your support, Softec can continue to be the leading technology trade association in San Luis Obispo and Northern Santa Barbara Counties.
